How to measure your garage before you start
Measure the width and the depth in feet at the widest points and multiply them. Do not subtract for the car or for shelving — the whole slab gets coated, and anything standing on it gets moved out first. If the garage is an irregular shape, or has a bump-out for a workbench or a water heater, split it into rectangles, work each one out separately, and add them together.
A Knoxville 2-car garage is usually 400 to 500 square feet, a 1-car 240 to 300, and a 3-car 600 to 750. If your measurement lands well outside those, measure again before ordering anything — it is the single most common mistake on a DIY estimate, and coating that runs out mid-broadcast leaves a visible seam that cannot be blended afterwards.
What these tools will not tell you
A calculator prices the coating, not the concrete. The three things that actually move a Knoxville quote are the condition of the slab, whether it passes a moisture test, and whether an old coating has to come off first — and none of them can be measured from a keyboard. Roughly one in five garage slabs we test here fails on moisture and needs a vapor-mitigating primer before anything else goes down.
Treat the output as a planning range. The Knoxville epoxy flooring cost guide breaks the numbers down by coating system and by garage size, and the contractor checklist covers what to ask before you sign anything — including what to ask us.
